Course Overview

The Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care is a 60-credit qualification—equivalent to one A level. It provides learners with the essential knowledge, understanding, and practical skills needed to begin a career in the health and social care sector, including roles such as support worker, senior support worker, or care assistant.

The diploma consists of 6 modules and corresponding assignments, totalling 60 credits and 120 guided learning hours.

How It Works

How It Works

Students on our Engineering course complete the Level 3 OTHM Diploma (60 credits), designed to provide the foundational skills and knowledge needed to succeed within the engineering industry.

The course is delivered fully online, allowing you to start at any time and study at your own pace. Each module contains 40 hours of guided online learning, plus 30–50 hours of optional activities, including recommended exercises, readings, digital resources, and self-test tasks.

To complete the qualification, you will submit 6 online assignments, each approximately 2,000–3,000 words. Once all assignments are successfully passed, you will receive your OTHM Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, which can be used to progress to a bachelor’s degree top-up at a range of UK universities.

Course Modules

The OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care consists of 6 mandatory units, each worth 10 credits:

1. Responsibilities of a Health and Social Care Worker (10 credits)

Understanding roles, responsibilities, and effective working relationships within a range of health and social care settings.

2. Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care (10 credits)

Developing reflective practice and ongoing learning to enhance personal performance in care roles.

3. Effective Communication and Ethical Practice in Health and Social Care (10 credits)

Exploring communication methods, individual care needs, and ethical practices including equality, diversity, and rights.

4. Health, Safety and Wellbeing in Health and Social Care Settings (10 credits)

Learning how to promote safe working environments, including safeguarding, abuse awareness, and risk management.

5. Person-Centred Approaches in Health and Social Care (10 credits)

Understanding how to place individuals at the centre of care planning and support.

6. Effective Handling of Information in Health and Social Care Settings (10 credits)

Covering confidentiality, ethical information handling, and best practices in recording, storing, sharing, and accessing data.

You can enrol in the Level 3 Accounting course if you are at least 16 years old and have a full secondary education.
